Uninsured to Get Low-Cost Health Clinic from UH

The University of Houston College of Medicine is opening a low-cost health clinic for people who don't have health insurance beginning this fall.

The clinic will be on the campus of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, on Beechnut at the Southwest Freeway.

University officials say it'll be the first of a network of clinics for the uninsured.

It will provide patients with primary care services, same-day or next-day appointments, lab tests, and reduced prices for medications.

A million-dollar gift from the Cullen Trust for Health Care is making the clinic possible.
