A push to stop politicians from spending their entire lives in office

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has a proposal to make the Washington swamp less swampy.

Cruz' idea is for two, 6-year terms in the Senate and three, two-year terms in the House. Republican strategist Jessica Colon says this is one effective way to drain the swamp.

"It has really gotten more steam in the grass roots," Colon told KTRH.

The lack of term limits was how we got the swamp in the first place.

"We've seen the effects of people becoming career politicians, Colon explained, pointing out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's long tenure in DC.

And then of course, there's President Biden, who has been in Washington for almost 50 years now. Other Senators have signed on to term limits effort; including Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.
