Galveston County Reports Nine Additional Cases of COVID-19

Galveston County Health District on Tuesday reported 9 new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 715.

We also report 4 new recoveries, bringing that total to 439.

Of the county’s 715 cases, 263 are tied to long-term care facilities. This count includes residents and employees. Cities that have seen a large number of cases tied to long-term care facilities are noted on the case update. Twenty-eight of the 31 deaths reported to date by the health district are related to long-term care facilities in Galveston County.

To date, 24,891 Galveston County residents have been tested, accounting for roughly 7 percent of the county’s population.

Residents are encouraged to contact their primary care physician for COVID-19 testing if they have come in contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive or are experiencing symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or at least two of the following symptoms: fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell.
