Teachers Don’t Like Their Jobs

Many teachers say their profession has become unrewarding and unfulfilling.

Houston Federation of Teachers Executive Vice President Andy Dewey says 44% of new teachers quit within five years. Why? “Lack of respect more than anything else,” he says.“We had 24 teachers in January simply walk out of their contracts,” he added, noting that means they’ve given up their teaching certification.

A recent Gallup survey of teachers in American found almost half are looking for a new job.“It’s the daily grind of being a teacher. Being held accountable for seemingly every social problem that exists.”

There are 3.2 million teachers in the country.
