Thursday's water main break along the East Loop at Cullen is causing problems as far west as the Energy Corridor.
Schools and businesses are shut down - including the Houston, Channelview, and Galena Park ISD's - and select campuses in both the Fort Bend and Humble ISD's. UH Downtown and University of St. Thomas have also cancelled Friday classes. Harris County Courts are closed, and jury service today has been cancelled.
Mayor Sylvester Turner says Houston Public Works crews worked through the night to close off the ruptured 96-inch pipe, and water pressure will remain low throughout the city...
"I anticipate that you will probably have to boil water in the City of Houston for the next 24-hours, if you're part of the Houston Water System... That does not include Kingwood, for example, or Clear Lake.
