Houston Symphony Orchestra's World Premiere of "Ad Astra"

On the evenings of December 5, 7 and 8th, the Houston Symphony orchestra introduces Ad Astra – Symphony Two, by composer in residence Jimmy Lopez Bellido in a world premiere.

The composition honors the achievements of the men and women of NASA and their transformative contributions to mankind.

Composer Bellido talks about Houston’s milestones of space exploration, from the tragedy on the Launchpad of Apollo I through Voyager missions today that carry man’s message of peace through the galaxy, and how each inspired the symphony’s five movements.
