All Dickinson ISD students are safe in their classrooms. DISD is closely monitoring the weather in conjunction with the National Weather Service. All after school activities are canceled today. Buses will run at the normal time; however, there may be some delays. St. John XXIII College Preparatory campus is closing at 3 p.m. Parents should pick up their child at 3 p.m.

Katy Independent School District continues to monitor the weather conditions throughout the Greater Houston area. Due to the severe weather and flooding around the I-45 corridor and in southeast Houston, the District will be canceling all out-of-district activities this afternoon and evening. In addition, all elementary and junior high after-school events and activities are canceled as well. 

High School after school activities remain on schedule; however, coaches, directors and sponsors will communicate directly with parents and students should anything change. 

After school day care (i.e. YMCA, Busy Bee) will proceed as scheduled unless parents are notified otherwise by those organizations. 

Please be reminded to monitorthe Katy ISD website and social media for updates on event cancellations or changes in the forecast over the next couple days.

University of Houston-Clear Lake, including its Pearland and TMC locations, are closing effective immediately due to severe weather conditions. All afternoon and evening classes and activities are canceled. However, faculty, staff and students who are currently on campus have been advised to remain until conditions improve. Galveston College will close at 12:30 p.m. today – Thursday, Sept. 19, – due to heavy rain and flooding. Day and evening classes have been canceled. Please visit the college website at gc.edu and Galveston College social media sites for updates.

Texas Southern University has cancelled all remaining classes and activities on Thursday, Sept. 19, beginning at 1:30 p.m. due to weather conditions throughout the Houston area. Those currently on campus are advised to remain until conditions improve. TSU PD will continue to monitor the situation and update as needed.

Please be very careful if you must travel. Some roads are closed or under water. Check Houston Transtar (https://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers /) for roadway conditions.

UH Closed, Travel Discouraged

UH including UH at Katy and UH at Sugar Land, has discontinued operations for the remainder of today due to worsening severe weather conditions throughout the Houston area. Shuttle service on and between campuses will continue to operate as conditions allow. On-campus services are open but may be limited. Anyone currently on campus is advised to remain here until conditions improve. Please use discretion and check Houston Transtar (https://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers/) for roadway conditions. We are following emergency management official’s recommendation to continue to shelter in place inside our schools. Our focus is the safety of our students and staff. Several HISD campuses experienced weather-related issues, but please be assured that we have taken measures to ensure the safety of our students. We are monitoring the weather and will provide updates as soon as we receive them.

HISD will dismiss all campuses under normal schedules today. Transportation Services will operate as normal. As buses arrive early, students will be placed on the bus for early commute to avoid traffic delays. However, due to road conditions, some buses might be delayed when dropping students at their drop-off location. We are monitoring the weather and will provide updates as soon as we receive them
