Son finds home invasion, exchanges shots with intruder in west Houston

HPD says a man exchanged gunfire with an armed intruder at his parent's house in west Houston last night.

The home invasion happened around 10 o'clock at a home on East Rivercrest Drive just east of West Beltway 8.

The homeowners told Houston police the intruder was dressed in all back and had a ski mask on. That intruder is said to have approached them in their garage. He forced them into the home and demanded the wife’s belongings.

The couple’s son came home, saw what happened, and police say he chased the intruder down the street. HPD also said the intruder eventually fired on the son, who shot back. Neither was hurt. The suspect got away.

HPD has not released a description of the gunman at this time.
