Strong Rip Currents at Galveston Beaches

Every May during the extended Memorial Day Holiday Weekend people head for the water.

The Galveston Island Beach Patrol is warning residents today about continuing strong rip currents.

A red-flag warning is in effect.

Sunday beachgoers will find a high of 83 along the coastline this afternoon. All swimmers are urged to stay near a lifeguard stand when selecting a place to swim.

Brazoria County has closed beaches due to the high tides and strong rip currents.
