Does a prisoner really need last words?

Last words or final words are a person's final articulated words, stated prior to death or as death approaches.

Last words may not necessarily be written down or accurately recorded, and they may not be quoted accurately for a variety of reasons.

It comes after a Texas prison spokesman last week read the last words of an avowed racist, John William King, who orchestrated one of the most gruesome hate crimes in U.S. history.
