Have Turkey? Call Hotline!

You have the turkey - now what do you do with it?
Call the hotline!

Janice Stahl has been a Butterball Hotline Turkey Expert for 15 years.

She says her callers are innovative - like the time a woman didn't know how much her turkey weighed, and didn’t have a bathroom scale to weigh it. She says the woman did say she was taking her dog to the vet, though and said “I’ll just take it with my 120 pound mixed breed today and weigh it on the scale in the lobby!”  Janice could just see this woman putting her frozen turkey on the big-dog scale in front of all the other dog people in the waiting room!

Turkey experts are now available through texting. Janice says, “Last year was our first year for texting. And on Thanksgiving Day alone we took 3,000 texts!”  You can also go to Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat and YouTube for help. But, still, the call is America’s Favorite.  Janice comments, “We will talk over 10,000 calls on Thanksgiving Day alone!”

Another new Butterball helper is Alexa. “If you use Alexa in your home, just say, ‘Alexa, how does Butterball say to cook my turkey?’ Or – if you’re panicked on Thanksgiving day, Alexa will even give you a pep talk!”

The Hotline number is 1-8800-butterball.

The text number is 844-877-3456

Janice has one more important piece of advice for you.

“There is no way in the world to really tell if your turkey’s done without a meat thermometer. You want it to read 165 degrees in the breast, and 180 in the thigh.”

Enjoy your meal and be grateful all day long.
