A hostage standoff in Fort Bend County this morning ended with a man found dead inside the home where he had been holding his two year old son hostage.
The boy was being held along with his grandmother. Police say the dead man, who apparently killed himself, is the boy’s father. Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls tells KTRH this was not what they were hoping to have happen.
“We wanted to do everything we could to get him to come out,” Nehls said.
As for the deputy that was hurt was hit in the leg, he is in good spirits, and should recover.
“One of my guys just told me he wants his cowboy hat, so I’m going to take that to the hospital and put it on his head. That’s exactly what I’m going to do,” Nehls stated.
This started at about 5 this morning when the boy's mother called police saying she was being threatened.
