PODCAST: Kavanaugh hearings begin today

The process for confirming President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court begins in earnest today.

It starts with a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee begin later this morning, and attorney Jonathan Saenz with Texas Values tells KTRH the state of Texas is going to play a big role in this entire process.

“John Cornyn and Ted Cruz are part of this committee. You’ll see a lot of attention on them and people asking them what they think,” Saenz said.

Democrats have made noise about not confirming Kavanaugh. They've even talked about not wanting to confirm him so close to the election, but Saenz says history shows this has happened before when it comes to the Supreme Court.

“Justice Kagan was nominated by President Obama right before the 2010 election and she was confirmed by a bipartisan group of Senators,” Saenz stated. “We expect the same for Kavanaugh.”
