Accused Serial Killer Appears in Court

Accused serial killer Jose Gilberto Rodriguez appeared in court Monday after a week-long wave of deadly crime in Houston.

The judge denied bail for 46-year-old Jose Gilberto Rodriguez.

The former parolee faces at least two counts of capital murder. The sex offender might also face charges of a third killing, home invasion, another shooting and some car thefts.

He cut off his ankle monitor July 5.

On July 13, police found 62-year-old Pamela Johnson, a Kroger employee, shot in the chest in her Cypress home.

Also, 28-year-old employee Allie Barrow, the manager of a Mattress Firm in the Willowbrook area, was found shot in the head in the store's back office.

On July 16, a 22-year-old METROLift bus driver was shot.  Police also found 57-year-old Edward Magaña, shot in the head inside a Mattress One on the North Freeway.

Rodriguez was arrested last week.

His lawyer asked the court to reiterate a no-visitation order for his client because Houston police tried to interview him while in jail.
