Tx Missionary Team Headed For Guatemala

A dozen missionaries from San Antonio aren't going to let a disastrous volcanic eruption deter them from their annual trip to Guatemala.

The volunteers from St. John's Lutheran Church in downtown San Antonio will leave early Sunday morning for their fifth annual mission trip to a school in a remote Guatemalan mountain village.

Their plan is to visit the school about three hours away from the hot zone outside Antigua and Guatemala City.

The volunteers will be taking school supplies, along with vegetable seeds for planting a garden.

Six children who were critically burned by the volcanic eruption were just airlifted to Texas on Thursday; they are undergoing treatment at Shriner’s Hospital in Galveston.
