Small and independent business owners overwhelmingly believe the GOP Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will have a positive effect on their businesses.

Eighty-seven percent think the new tax law will have a positive impact on the general economy.

“Forty-seven percent plan to increase business investments, 44 percent plan to increase employee compensation and over one-in-four plan to hire additional employees,” according to Jon Kurrle, vice president of the the National Federation of Independent Business.

However, Kurrle says the only drawback is finding the right people to hire.

“For the here and now, small businesses are looking to hire and they're struggling to find enough qualified employees to do so,” he says.

“It's a situation where hiring is largely local, and it's about finding the right skill sets in the right localities to match what the small business needs.”
