Facebook likes can give away things about you

That status or article that you just liked on Facebook tells researchers more about you than you probably realize.

The researchers say that what you like on Facebook can predict your race, religion, and even sexual orientation. One of the researchers, Tim Summers at the University of Maryland, told KTRH this isn't just hot air. This is fact.

“Absolutely. Based on the data they can do it with a pretty high level of accuracy,” he explained.

And Summers also says these likes and shares are used by Facebook in ways you don't even know.

“Facebook is collecting this data in many cases, exploiting it. Some of the data that is captured is done without you even knowing,” Summers stated.

And that is why some lawmakers who talked with Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg this week on Capitol Hill are now openly talking about regulating social media.
