Astros kick off playoff series against Red Sox

You’re going to see a whole lot of orange around Houston today.

The Astros kick off their playoff season this afternoon with Game one of the Division Series against the Red So. Mayor Turner led a rally at Minute Maid Park yesterday.

“We have a fantastic team,” Turner said, dressed in an orange Astros jersey.

Astros owner Jim Crane looking for a long playoff run as opposed to what happened in 2015 when the team lost to Kansas City in the Division Series. He told our TV Partner Channel 2 it would be a big lift to the city after Hurricane Harvey.

“It adds a little extra push to the guys,” Crane stated.

It’s a sentiment that hit home with Astros pitcher Joe Musgrove.

“To see the way the city has stood back up it’s been incredible,” Musgrove told fans at Minute Maid Park.

Many experts think the Astros will beat Boston in this series. Justin Verlander gets the start for the ‘Stros this afternoon against Boston’s Chris Sale.

Parking could be an issue at Minute Maid, but you can avoid higher prices by taking Uber and the Metro. There are private parking lots as well.

First pitch is at 3:08pm. Pregame coverage starts at 2 on Sports Talk 790.
