Former TX. Gov. Mark White (1983 to 1987), dies at 77

Former Democratic Texas Governor Mark White is dead.  The 77-year-old White passed away Saturday in Houston after a long battle with kidney cancer.  White served as governor from 1983 to 1987.  

In the true essence of Texans honoring their own, former President  George W Bush and Luci Baines Johnson, daughter if the late President Lyndon B Johnson will speak at the funeral of former Texas Governor Mark White on Wednesday at 11 am. Services will be at Second Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev Ed Young.On Thursday morning, DPS troopers will escort the casket to the state Capitol rotunda, where the body I'll lie in state from noon until 3 pm.  Interment will be at the Texas State. Cemetery at 4 pm.  

He's best remembered for pushing public education reform, including the "No Pass, No Play" policy for student athletes.
