Survey Rates Texas a Prime State for Road-Tripping

A new survey finds that when it comes to a vacation road trip, it doesn't get much better than Texas.

With 79 percent of summer travelers driving to their destination and this summer being the cheapest for gas since 2005, the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its list of the "Best & Worst States for Summer Road Trips."

Here is how Texas ranks among U.S. stated for road-tripping:

5th – Number of Attractions.

6th – Lowest Price of Three-Star Hotel.

6th – Driving Laws Rating.

10th – Average Gas Prices.

16th – Vehicle Miles Traveled per Capita.

12th – Access to Scenic Byways.

WalletHub’s data team compared the 50 U.S. states in terms of 22 key indicators of a fun and frugal summer road trip. The data set ranges from average gas prices to the quality of roads to the number of attractions.
