The newest standard for Wi-Fi technology means you will soon be able to transfer an entire high-definition movie from your computer to your tablet in less than four minutes.

Called “802.11ac,” the standard was approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance yesterday.

“This is easily going to double the speed – if not more – of the way smartphones connect to Wi-Fi systems,” says the Hi-Tech Texan, Michael Garfield.  “If you have a home or office system, you can transfer internally across that network, files, videos and other things at even faster rates.”

Speeds of up to 1-point-3 gigabytes will be available.
