Harris County deputies said alcohol was likely a factor in a crash that killed two people in northwest Harris county early Friday morning.

The crash is expected to keep FM 1960 shut down near the intersection of Wortham Boulevard through morning rush hour.

Just after 2:15 a.m., rescue crews were called to that intersection.

Deputies said a man driving a red Volkswagen was driving down FM 1960 back to a nearby bar to get his jacket.

He turned onto Worthham and was hit by an oncoming black Camaro which was going more than 90 mph.

The 29-year-old man in the red car was ejected from the car and died on the scene.

The crash was so violent, the engine of the Volkswagen was thrown several feet down the road.
