A militia group establishing a command center southwest of San Antonio says it will focus its border protection efforts on the area near Laredo first. The group’s spokesperson, Denise Freeman, says the mission is a simple one.
“Stop the influx of all illegal migrants coming from all the countries through that Texas Laredo border,” Freeman says.
“Operation Secure Our Border” is aimed at complementing the efforts of the U.S. Border Patrol. The federal agency isn't welcoming the help yet, despite the crowds of people flooding in. Freeman says they aren't headed for the border to start trouble.
“We are not there to cause an action of war,” she says. “We are there to protect our citizens that have requested our assistance.”
