As thousands of illegal immigrant children continue to cross into the country illegally, Senate Democrats took an opportunity to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Senate passing immigration reform, a bill that has actually yet to become law.

Jessica Vaughan at the Center for Immigration Studies told KTRH Senate Democrats should not have celebrated that at all.

"This shows exactly how tone deaf the Democratic leadership is," Vaughan said. "It's hard to tell if they are completely out of touch with reality or just stupid."

Senators like Harry Reid blamed Republicans for what is going on at the border.

"Today marks the 365th day that the Tea Party driven House of Representatives has sat on their hands refusing to fix our broken immigration system," Reid said. "Radical Republicans in the House have refused to address the real issues affecting the American immigration system. They should pass this legislation."

That drew an angry response on the Senate floor from Texas Senator John Cornyn.

"The Majority Leader suggested that the Republican platform was 'deport first and find solution later or never.' I find that offensive," Cornyn said.

Cornyn continued to say that instead of celebrating, Reid and others like Representative Nancy Pelosi should be working on fixing the problem.

"No less than Vice President Joe Biden has said of the unaccompanied minors flooding across from the U.S.-Mexican border, he said, quote 'It's necessary to put them back in the hands of the parent in the country from which they came," Cornyn stated.

And in another development, the Homeland Security Committee and Houston Congressman Mike McCaul will hold a field hearing on the crisis in McAllen. Governor Rick Perry will be among those to testify.
