Harris County election officials are expecting a larger-than-normal turnout next Tuesday.  County Clerk Stan Stanart says a record-setting 190 thousand Republican votes could be cast in the primary election.  With changes in some polling locations, and fewer of them, voters are being urged to cast those ballots early.

“In the primary, the parties run the elections.  As a result, half of the people will have a different location to vote at on Election Day,” Stanart says, “so I encourage people to vote early.”

Early voting ends at 7 this evening.  Information about the primary, including where you should vote, is available online at harrisvotes.com.

Interest is increasing.

“It's up,” Stanart says.  “There's a lot more excitement in the Republican primary because of all the candidates and all the attention.”
