Bank customers have been paying higher transaction fees for a 15th straight year.

The head of the Texas Bankers Association says there are ways to limit the fees you have to pay for your banking transactions.  One is pretty simple:

“(Customers should) make sure that they don't spend more money than they have and incur overdraft fees,” says Executive Vice President John Heasley.  “But also, remember to use the ATM for your financial institution.  That way you don't have to pay fees.”

Heasley says you should remember this -- the teller you're shouting at had nothing to do with your fees going up.  And, if you don't like your bank, it's okay to change.

“In Houston alone there's over 75 institutions banks that are doing business and customers,” he says.  If they don't particularly like the institution, they can take their business elsewhere.”
