Just Like Chicago: Houston & NOLA Mayors Call for More Gun Control Laws

If you want New Orleans and Houston to be more like Chicago, then have we got some good news for you!

In the wake of recent shooting incidents, Houston Mayor Sylvester "I Hate Firefighters But I Love Human Traffickers" Turner is calling for increased gun control laws.

Not to be outdone, New Orleans' mayor wants more gun control too.

WWL reports:

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is one of four mayors from Louisiana’s biggest cities who've joined 200 of their colleagues nationwide in signing a letter to Congress demanding the passage of gun background check and red flag legislation.
One of the signees, Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo, says a rash of recent mass shootings demands an appropriate response.
“There is no excuse for not doing this. In fact, if these two bills had been in place in 2015 the terrible tragedy that occurred at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston might have been avoided.”
The letter notes there have been 250 mass shootings in 2019 alone.

Folks, criminals don't care about gun laws. Look at places like Chicago, Memphis, Baltimore and the entire nation of Mexico have pretty strict gun laws. They also have dangerously high homicide rates This is not a coincidence. Houston has half the violent crime and murder rate of Chicago - we also have a gun store and a gun range on every block.

It's always a bad idea to make decisions when emotions are running high - the wake of a mass shooting incident is a perfect example.
