COVID-19 may never go away completely, but the U.S. can get it under control - That's the latest message from the country's top infectious diseases specialist, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
In a new interview with CNN, Dr. Fauci said the "highly transmissible" virus isn't likely to be eradicated from the planet.
That goes directly against President Trump's statement on Wednesday that the virus will just "go away."
Fauci reiterated that a vaccine plus masks, hand washing, and social distancing can work, but the U.S. is still missing a "cohesive" plan of action.
There are currently 4.7 million cases of COVID-19 across the country and almost 159,000 deaths.
