We often overlook them….but they never stop looking out for us, or virtually anyone else in the country….Texas Task Force One. They are the elite of emergency first responders, one of the first created in a national chain to deal with natural disaster and man-made disaster too.
They train, appropriately, in Disaster City at College Station. It’s a tangled place of partially collapsed structures, vehicles, rail cars where Texas Task Force trains teams from all over the world in responding to explosions, crashes, evacuations. Water rescue training takes place in Hill Country locations of rapids and rushing water. No surprise that a team from Texas Task Force is already on the eastern seaboard preparing for Hurricane Florence….and of course, more still alert here for what lies ahead for Texas.
