What to talk about first? Maybe the Perseids meteor showers making their annual appearance across the night sky, as they have every year since at least 36 AD. They’ll last for several weeks, best viewing predicted for August 12. Right now, in the Houston area, lots of luck though… our best view is of Saharan dust/ rock particles hazing up the upper atmosphere. In Northern California, it’s wild fires and smoke across thousands of acres. In Hawaii, a tour boat trying to view the still erupting Kiluea Volcano got hit by a lava bomb…23 people were injured when the molten rock left a basketball sized hole in the boat’s roof.
Lots to see from and on this planet… even Padre Island what a view of the gaping jaws of a 14 foot hammerhead shark there. Take a look yourself at KTRH.com.
