At first, I questioned the headline of a drone saving those swimmers in Australia. But the drone actually did.
It was really rough water on the far north coast above Sydney and two teenaged boys were in terrible danger.
At that moment though, lifeguards were training on new drone technology as part of shark protection.
When the drone handler was alerted to the teens in trouble, he quickly moved "the Little Ripper UAV" above them, the drone dropped a pod flotation device to them….all happening in a matter of 70 seconds. The kids made their way to shore using the pod and when met by human lifeguards showed only fatigue...but I would imagine great relief.
