The sound of silence? Nope. There's the hum. People across the planet have reported hearing a hum coming through the silent places for decades. In Bristol, England they say it keeps them up at night.

Scientists tried to measure it way back in 1959. Using seismic instruments they proved it existed in 1998, and now they’ve recorded it. Sounds a bit like a sleeping giant or an idling diesel.

It is a vibration, at several frequencies…coming deep from the ocean floor…data recorded by 57 seismometers in the Indian Ocean.  But with 70% of Earth covered by water,  they suspect the continuous vibration is present across the globe.  Now ….to just find out what causes it.
