The heart of Houston has long been a giving one. This year it beats just as strong, even as we've been through the rigors of natural disaster and need to receive ourselves.
On this "Giving Tuesday" I see our many local non-profits with gentle reminders that they could use a helping hand too. Many of them stepped in to help directly during Harvey, others saw their normal donors redirect their dollars, many had to postpone or cancel their normal autumn fundraisers, OR like the Japan America Society of Houston that used their fundraiser to help the victims of Harvey. On the part of JASH it was directly because of Houston giving to Japan after its devastating tsunami. The reciprocal action will make for a lean budget for the society this year. I'll be giving to them this Tuesday.
