Like many of you, I was struck with the revelation that Harris County Judge Ed Emmett suffered a stroke shortly before Hurricane Harvey.
In those devastating days and weeks of preparing, then reacting to immediacy, and then dealing with aftermath, Judge Emmett carried on. None of us knew what he was dealing with personally, while standing at the center of the maelstrom, not just for Harris County, but also in the coordination with surrounding counties, the State and Homeland Security.
On Houston's Morning News we spoke directly with Judge Emmett on the first day of hurricane season and we spoke directly with him throughout Harvey. He stood his ground in duty to the public. No matter your political divides, you must admire Judge Emmett for being yet another version of "Houston Strong".
