One million frenzied people squeezing into downtown Houston for the Astros victory parade and celebration, while another 50,000 people also assembled downtown for the International Quilt Show, and I'm not sure how many thousands of bikers also roared through on the Lone Star Rally to Galveston.
Quite a weekend in H town....a joyous weekend...to the largest extent without mishap, without rowdiness getting out of hand, without assault and destruction. Yes, the traffic jams were horrendous, but I didn't hear anything about road rage. Yes, people were swarming downtown trees as vantage points, cooling off in the City Hall reflection pond, but police were focused on crowd security not antics. Amazing the difference in crowds when they're united in their cause.
