Here we go again with the food debate. It’s hard work bringing a Texas transplant up to speed. But, then again, my speed is not true of all Texans, as I learned in the great taco debate with Jimmy Barrett. He’s standing with crispy, it’s what he knows, bless his heart. I argue for soft tacos and so I got to argue again over kolaches.
Jimmy got his first taste of a kolache on air. It was a sausage and cheese….kolache????? In the predominate Czech culture of Hallettsville, where the Kolache Festival is held every last Saturday of September each year, I grew up with kolaches made with fruit….or poppyseed or cream cheese. That’s it. Sausage and cheese? That’s a pig in a blanket in my experience. But I guess I’ll hear from you who disagree.
