FOOD AT THE FAIR

Proof that Texas is still proud and strong....certainly in our guts. I'm talking about our ability to eat at the State Fair. It opens as usual with Big Tex standing tall. And the latest winners of the fair food competition?

Maybe your stomach can handle the funnel cake bacon queso burger with a dusting of powdered sugar or how about a tamale doughnut? It's a pork-filled tamale formed into a circle, fried of course, and topped with creamy jalapeno salsa. The tamale doughnut created by Justin Martinez who previously created award-winning fried bubblegum and my personal favorite fried Thanksgiving dinner. It's the State Fair of Texas, now through October 22nd.
