She was a heralded Texan whose music endures long after her early death and even earlier departure from this state. I'm talking about rock and blues icon of the 60's Janis Joplin.
She left Port Arthur Texas right after high school graduation but her legend and her childhood home remain. That home is now on the market for 200-thousand dollars. There is a state historical marker out front, a driveway to park that "oh, Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz"....and concrete proof that Janis wrote her name in wet cement at some point.....before she took off with "me and Bobby McGee".
