Rodeo Houston hosted its annual lunch for the Consular Corps….the prelude to welcoming  almost 3000 international visitors, tourists and agri-business folk,  expected to attend this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

It’s always a good turnout from the Consular Corps in residence here…more than 90 … making us 3rd to New York and Los Angeles.  It’s a chance for the Rodeo, with the help of the International Committee, to wine the diplomatic community with award winners of the Wine Competition and to dine them with the heritage and purpose of our amazing event.  Its purpose is to promote agriculture…food production…necessary to all the world.  But the by-product, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has also become one of the world’s largest grantors of college scholarships.

Recipients Michelle Tran and Leen Basharat revealed what that has meant to them, even as the Consular Corps made donations to the Show to pay it forward.
