It has not been ten months since President Trump re-assumed the White House, and as he promised, things are beginning to turn around for the country. Inflation has been falling, there have been two interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, and the stock market has been hitting all-time highs. Yet, you never hear this side of the story from the media. Instead, you get national newscasts leading with whatever Trump hit piece they want to broadcast that day.

It has not just been the media, though. Plenty of Republicans have stayed relatively quiet about the economy, despite there being plenty of positives to support. That has led to President Trump growing frustrated with his GOP colleagues for not touting what he dubs the "greatest economy in history."

While it might not be the greatest just yet there again is plenty about which to be optimistic. Economist Elizabeth Ames says despite doom and gloom from the media, things have been going well, especially in the markets.

"The S&P is up 18-percent, almost 20-percent, in this year, which is great for people's 401k's," she says.

But there is a bit of a hiccup, as there usually is. Prices are still sitting a little high, as well as inflation. Granted, it is much better than the disaster that is became under Bidenomics. For people on fixed incomes though, it is still a bumpy ride. Grocery prices are slowly coming down but still remain expensive.

That is still causing some concern at the back half of the year and entering 2026.

"We have not brought down inflation as much as we still can...and the question is how that will be done," says Ames. "The answer is to stabilize currency...but nobody understands that on either side."

Another impact that is still worrisome is the national debt and government overspending. Both of which remain out of control. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) did get a handle on some of it, saving billions of dollars. But that is a drop in the bucket on the grand scale.

But regardless, the economy continues chugging along, with more revenue than ever coming in thanks to the tariffs. There has actually been so much accomplished, that is part of the reason this has been ignored by the GOP, and public in general.

"People's heads are spinning...so you cannot focus on the achievements because he is doing so many things on so many fronts...the average person does not know what to focus on," Ames says.

The President has right to be somewhat upset about the lack of touting by the GOP. But there is no reason to be too upset. As he once said, "we are going to win so much, you get tired of winning." That is on its way to becoming reality, regardless of opinion.
