Ro Malabanan is an MMA fighter and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Last week, while on his way to boxing class Malabanan witnessed a man attacking several people in Manhattan’s Soho shopping district and he says his “…jiu-jitsu instincts just kicked in.”
“I jumped on his back.He tried to swing me off then — but for those of you in the know — a seatbelt position dragged him down to the floor, and I immediately took his back and pinned him to the ground…
Play stupid games, and win stupid prizes. This guy assaulted six people before I got to him.”
Po-Po showed up and arrested Samuel Frazier, 28.
Fox News reports, “two NYPD officers ultimately arrived and arrest Frazier. The New York Police Department revealed later that Frazier hit at least two people, including a 50-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy.”
Malabanan says about the incident:
“As a martial artist, it is my responsibility to stand up for those who cannot. As New Yorkers, we must help each other out so we can go about our business without having to fear for our lives.”
