Two thieves were shot at a northwest Harris County gas station on Saturday after allegedly breaking into a car of a man who was heading to the gun range.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the car owner was coming to back to his vehicle when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked next to his car.
His car window had been shattered.
The man told deputies that he was headed to the gun range and he feared that the criminals had stolen firearms in his car.
So he opened fire on the suspects.
"The suspects then fled the scene before deputies found them at another location.
One of the suspects was reportedly shot in the foot and the other in the abdomen during the incident.
Both suspects were transported to the hospital in fair condition and are now in custody."
The man who defended himself and property is not expected to face any charges as Sheriff Gonzalez says he was well within his right.
