Last week, Fox’s Peter Doocy asked Biden about a Wall Street Journal report that revealed the White House is looking at offering illegal immigrants a settlement of $450,000 for each of them separated from their family in 2018.
When asked if the compensations might incentivize more illegal immigration, Biden blasted the report as “garbage” report and insisted “That’s not gonna happen.”
Following the exchange, ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero put out a statement saying Biden is either out of the loop with his administration, or he’s “abandoning a core campaign promise” to undo what the Trump administration did.
A day later, the White House completely flip-flopped, claiming that Biden said the $450,000 number was “garbage” not the Wall Street Journal report.
Now Biden says the families of illegal immigrant children separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border during the Trump administration should receive payment from US taxpayers.
He said, “if, in fact, because of the outrageous behavior of the last administration, you coming across the border, whether it was legally or illegally, and you lost your child — You lost your child. It's gone — you deserve some kind of compensation, no matter what the circumstance. What that will be I have no idea. I have no idea.”
So they are going to cut checks to illegal immigrants and they’ll likely try to keep it secret for as long as possible.
