Portland Mayor’s “Emergency Resolution” To Cut Trade & Travel With Texas

Businesses are fleeing downtown Portland because the mayor has basically ceded the city to Antifa while homeless tent “cities” now litter the sidewalk as violent crime and murder has spiked.

But never let your own problems get in the way of virtue signaling your liberal credentials by attacking other places.

Portland’s disastrous mayor Ted Wheeler and city council play to push an “emergency resolution” this week for a ban on goods and services from Texas.

No more shopping at Whole Foods for Wheeler and crew. SXSW in Austin, forget about it.

The same clowns who defunded the police then saw big crime spikes which resulted in them boosting police funding have found a new cause to distract the libs with.

In a statement released on Friday, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said the council will take up the emergency resolution on September 8 with the intent "to ban the city's future procurement of goods and services from, and city employee business travel to, the state of Texas."

Except the vote won't take place today as the mayor had hoped because the city failed to file the emergency resolution by yesterday's 5pm deadline. So they'll have to wait until next week.

So if the ban is approved next week, the mayor said it would remain in effect until the state "withdraws it unconstitutional ban on abortion or until it is overturned in court."

The council put out a similar statement saying “Portland City Council stands with the people who may one day face difficult decisions about pregnancy, and we respect their right to make the best decision for themselves”.

Mayor Wheeler called on other leaders across the country to follow their lead and ban doing business with Texas.

Oregon based journalist Nancy Rommelmann nails it:
