NOLA Mayor LaToya Cantrell has imposed a citywide curfew and admits that there’s been looting there but she colludes with the Police Chief to suppress the release of looting arrest numbers.
They say they won’t release the arrest numbers because they don’t want to present "a false narrative” about what is happening.
Translation: it’s that bad.
Yesterday afternoon, Mayor Cantrell announced a citywide curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
She claimed the curfew is a "proactive" public safety measure not reactive.
New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson said officers have made "several" looting arrests and said it was not widespread, but he refused to disclose how many there had been.
Ferguson said he was withholding the number of arrests to prevent "a false narrative about this city", adding that “I don’t think a number matters. What matters is who is committing these crimes and if they are being held accountable.”
Why impose the curfew then?
Producer Kenny posted video from the Daily Mail showing people looting.
Mayor Cantrell also announced yesterday that an additional National Guard unit focused on an anti-looting effort was coming in.
While Chief Ferguson said that the Louisiana State Police and National Guard will supplement police patrols.
So there is not looting problem in NOLA yet they are bringing in the National Guard and State Police.
