Ridiculous and infuriating but this is the judicial system the Democrats running Harris County and the City of Houston wanted.
Props again to Fox 26’s Randy Wallace who continues to shine a light on the revolving door at Harris County courts. Violent offenders released repeatedly on PR bond.
So a man free on bond for aggravated robbery is arrested for breaking the ribs of his ONE-MONTH-OLD SON. He’s granted a PR bond and now he’s been arrested for killing his ONE-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER.
As Randy Wallace reports, “back in February of 2020, 25-year-old Deandre Calhoun was granted $30,000 bond for an aggravated robbery charge. While free on bond, he was charged with injury to a child after his one-month-old son was found with multiple rib fractures.”
Assistant DA Gilbert Sawtelle tells Fox 26 that Calhoun “gave an admission to out of frustration squeezing that child on his chest."
Instead of revoking his bond over the new injury to a child charge, 184th Criminal District Court Judge Abigail Anastasio granted Calhoun a PR bond. Now, Calhoun has a second injury to a child charge in the death of his one-year-old daughter.
Sawtelle says “the explanations he gave are innocent explanations, but they are not consistent with the injuries seen by medical experts. Those injuries are consistent with abusive head trauma, that is non-accidental."
He adds, “unfortunately this is the second instance of him doing the exact same thing. The unfortunate part about it we now have a dead one year old. That wouldn’t have happened."
Crime Stoppers Andy Kahan points out that since the story aired on Fox 26 earlier this week, "there has not been any outrage, condemnation, press conferences or statements by any of elected officials."
