Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Brown was attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony at an event in northeast Atlanta around noon when at least four kids jumped into his car and took off.
According to Fox5 Atlanta, “Brown told police that he noticed four children no more than 11 or 12 years old, the youngest possibly 6 or 7 walking around a nearby store. Within seconds they were in his car.”
Again, this is kids under 12 with the youngest being around 7 stealing cars in broad daylight.
Brown says he was speaking to community activist Ben Norman when he noticed his car was being stolen.
Brown and Norman say tried to stop the kids, but they fought back and hit the gas. Brown says he was dragged a short distance.
Brown did file a report with the Atlanta Police Department. Officers said they found Brown’s car a few hours later but did not say if they made any arrests. Brown said he does not want to press charges.
Strange that Brown called police for helping considering last year he voted to defund the police. Fox News reports that “Last year, he voted in support of an ordinance to withhold $73 million from the budget of the Atlanta Police Department. The ordinance was narrowly voted down.”
Brown went on to dismiss the kids behavior, blaming it all on poverty. He tells WSBTV, "this is a generational poverty issue. These kids, it’s 12:30 in the afternoon. Why aren’t they in school? Why aren’t we enforcing systems to ensure that if they are not in school, they’re in recreational centers?"
Brown probably hates the police because he’s under indictment on federal fraud charges related to alleged incidents that occurred in the years prior to him becoming a city councilman
