This is the New York Times science & health reporter Apoorva Mandavilli who has basically been the paper’s lead correspondent on COVID.
Simple incredible.
Of course, she ended up deleting the tweet but as the Washington Examiner’s Becket Adams writes:
“You probably ought to discount all reporting done so far by New York Times COVID-19 reporter Apoorva Mandavilli, who showed Wednesday that she is too blinded by ideology to be trusted with the biggest health and science story of our lifetime…
Mandavilli is quite literally saying we should stop discussing how COVID-19 came about, even at the expense of the truth about why 3.5 million people died, because it has supposedly "racist roots.”
How is it possible that a New York Times reporter, tasked with covering the pandemic, believes that pursuing the truth, including taking seriously an ever-more-plausible theory about a deadly virus's origins, is “racist”?”
Glenn Greenwald asks how is it racist to question how the outbreak began in China, tweeting “Can someone explain to me why it’s racist to wonder if a virus escaped from a Chinese lab, but it’s not racist to insist that it infected humans because of Chinese wet markets?”
Meanwhile even the Biden administration admits that they have not ruled out the possibility that China deliberately unleashed the coronavirus on the world.
