Court Rules Virginia Restaurant Defying Mask Mandate Can Remain Open

A Virginia restaurant that has been defying the state’s shut down rules will remain open after a judge issued a lengthy ruling last week, denying the state’s claim for a temporary injunction that would have called for the immediate closure of Gourmeltz.

Gourmeltz owner Matt Strickland has refused to stop serving food and alcohol despite having his licenses suspended by the Virginia Health Department.

Strickland say that mandates from Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam are unconstitutional.

This morning he spoke to the Czar, saying:

“it seemed like mandates and regulations that they were putting into place, just to impose their will and rule by force.
So I woke up and I said ‘I’m not doing this anymore, doesn’t make any sense to me.So I started allowing my customers to make this only decisions...and so I opened up business as usual back in June of last year.”

Strickland has started a campaign to raise money for a legal defense.
