Again and again and again we are seeing these Democrats ‘do as I say, not as I do’ mentality.
While Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton was enforcing lockdown orders, she held a backyard wedding at her home.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Becton reportedly held the gathering, which consisted of dozens of attendees back in August.
The Chronicle reports that the event hosted 25 to 30 people with neighbors saying the party last late into the night. At the time of the party, coronavirus-related restrictions didn’t allow multiple households to gather in the same space.
Contra Costa County Supervisors expressed their disgust with Becton.
Supervisor Candace Andersen pointed out that at the time Becton hosted the backyard wedding, she formed a COVID-19 enforcement task force to crack down on people and businesses breaking safety protocol.
Andersen said “I cannot tell you how many friends had their children getting married last summer who said, ‘Can we have a reception?’ and I had to keep saying, ‘Because of the health order, you can have a (socially distanced) religious ceremony… but you really are not allowed to serve food.'"
One of Becton’s neighbors, Karyl Toms, told the San Francisco Chronicle that she was “aghast that somebody would do that” and at first didn’t know who Becton was but was upset after learning she was an elected official. Toms says “that’s when I got really upset. No surprise here, the poor suckers are locked down and people who have power get to do what they want. What, rules pertain to me?”
